WHAT IS NORTH TAMA FCCLA?

FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (formerly FHA).  It is the only student organization with family as its central focus.

North Tama’s current combined JH & HS membership averages around 5-10 members per year.  Students pay a yearly membership fee, which allows them full participation at the local, district, state and national levels.

The NT chapter involves itself in many community service activities & projects including: activities for elementary classes, adopting a family at Christmas, donations to charitable organizations, etc.

The organization also prides itself on its district, state & national involvement.  Eleven members in the past 25 years have been state officers & 1 was a national officer candidate.  Fifty-two members advanced to national leadership conference in STAR events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) and one member was named a Japanese Exchange Scholarship Winner.  Members are encouraged to become involved in all projects and activities to help develop and enhance their leadership skills and capabilities.

Proceeds from FCCLA fundraising activities financially assist members attending leadership conferences & camps, as well as support many service learning projects.
